Book meme

I stole these meme questions from cowgalutah’s site because I LOVE books.  If I could eat them I would.

  1. What are you reading right now?        Blood Orange by Drusilla Campbell .    Eh, not so much likey.
  2. Do you have any idea what you’ll read when you’re done with that?  Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult
  3. What magazines do you have in your bathroom right now? Entertainment Weekly (my pop culture porn) and Time
  4. What’s the worst thing you were ever forced to read?  Remembering back that far makes my brain hurt, and that last acid trip in ’79 didn’t help matters much either.
  5. What’s the one book you always recommend to just about everyone?  The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger
  6. Admit it, the librarians at your library know you on a first name basis, don’t they?  Oh yeah.  They know me and secretly believe I have better taste in books than any other patron.
  7. Is there a book you absolutely love, but for some reason, people never think it sounds interesting, or maybe they read it and don’t like it at all?  The Terror by Dan Simmons.  Nobody I know who has actually tried to read it, could stand it.  I stayed up several nights devouring all 700 pages.
  8. Do you read books while you eat? While you bathe? While you watch movies or TV? While you listen to music? While you’re on the computer? While you’re having sex? While you’re driving?   Eat – yes.  Bathe – yes.  I have too much fun while having sex to read – I mean, come on!  If my man whipped out a book to read while we were getting our freak on, I’d cry.  Then I’d withhold sex for, oh about a year I guess. Driving?  Are you kidding?
  9. When you were little, did other children tease you about your reading habits?  No, but I got an award in first grade for reading more books than anybody else.  Of course I was 12 years old then, so really, the competition was pretty lame.
  10. What’s the last thing you stayed up half the night reading because it was so good you couldn’t put it down?  On Chesil Beach by Ian McEwan – but at only 208 pages it only took about that long to read it.

So ends this meme.  I don’t tag, so if you want to play feel free!

Oooh! I like this game. Can’t say I’ve read any of these titles though! Perhaps I don’t have such great taste in modern lit. Oh well! I’ll play anyways. Thanks for the fun meme OB! xoxo

Eh, I don’t profess any claims to great modern lit taste either. My general rule is no romance novels or fictional crime – kinda limits the palate these days though!

Oh, you are making me want to immerse myself in a good book, it’s been a while…. sadly, I’m more of a mushy love story girl…. 😦

My Texas girlfriend is a romance novel junkie. Me, not so much, but I’d probably get hooked if I started to indulge!

Have you read other Jodi Picoult books? I haven’t read any of hers, but I was at the bookstore recently and was looking at “My sister’s keeper” and it looked really interesting. My fiction reading tends to be more escapist, though, because I do a lot of heavy non-fiction reading, and I just need a mental break! Vampire (and similar) books are what I gravitate towards, for whatever reason!

I read My Sister’s Keeper, but the plotline has not stayed with me. She’s a pretty good writer – I’m reading that one next because I’m next in line in the queue at the library for it. I have a neverending list of books reserved at the library – most have not been released yet – for which I am between 10th and 145th in line for. Currently there are 10 books I’m waiting for – that’s why the librarians all know me. I read voraciously every day.

I just got a load of books in from the Internet today. lessee… Watchmen, Mothman Prophecies, and Zombie Tales. plenty of new fun things to chew on.

    Yummy, zombies.

My whole life I’ve wanted to read while bathing, but I’ve always always been too scared of damaging the book to do it.

You absolutely can damage a book that way. Magazines are better for the bath! Not for the shower though. No way.

David – You know what…Considering that books are rather “sacred” objects in my world (and your world, from the sounds of it), it might be considered kind of “naughty” to read a book in the bath. Oh go ahead David, do it…Get your book all wrinkly and wet…Tee hee hee…You might actually enjoy it. Darn, I’m bad…

You little rule-breaker you! Yeah David – we’ve all done it before – go ahead!
